How to find our accident repair centre in Basildon
We're in the north-east of Basildon, on the Burnt Mills Industrial Estate off Courtauld Road. The A132 passes the estate (it's called East Mayne at this end and Nevendon Road further north), and the A127 Southend Arterial Road is only a short drive away. Coming from Wickford, Billericay or Rayleigh, you won't need to go through the town centre.
| Coming from | Distance | Typical drive |
|---|---|---|
| Wickford | about 3 miles | 7 minutes |
| Basildon town centre | about 3 miles | 7 minutes |
| Pitsea | about 3 miles | a few minutes |
| Laindon | about 5 miles | 10 minutes |
| Rayleigh | about 6.5 miles | 12 minutes |
| Billericay | about 6.5 miles | 15 minutes |
From Wickford, come south on the A132 (Golden Jubilee Way, then Nevendon Road) onto East Mayne. From Rayleigh, pick up the A127 westbound at the Rayleigh Weir and leave it at the A132 after about 4 miles. From Billericay, take the A129 Southend Road, then Hardings Elms Road and Pipps Hill Road North to join the A127 eastbound, and come off at the A132. The last turn is the same for everyone: Courtauld Road, into the estate.

After an accident on the A127, A13, A130 or A132
The A127 runs along the top of Basildon and the A13 along the bottom, past Vange and Pitsea. The A132 heads north to Wickford and the A130 goes up towards Chelmsford. If you've had a bump on any of them, this is the order to do things in:
- Stop. If anyone is hurt or the road is blocked, call 999.
- Swap names, addresses, vehicle registrations and insurance details with the other driver.
- If you couldn't swap details at the scene, report the accident to the police as soon as possible, and within 24 hours.
- If it wasn't your fault, ring us on 01268 590 722 before you call your insurer.
Our guide to what to do after an accident on the A127 or A13 goes into more detail.
Non-fault claims and courtesy cars in Basildon
When someone else caused the accident, our claims handling team takes the claim to their insurer and recovers the costs from them. Nothing goes through your own policy. In practice that means:
- a replacement car similar to yours while your car is repaired, at no cost to you
- no excess to pay
- no effect on your no claims bonus
- independent insurance engineers inspect the car and agree the repair costs, or give a fair written valuation if it isn't economical to repair
- we chase any compensation you're owed
If the accident was your fault, you'll claim on your own insurance and we'll handle the insurer for you: we send our estimate, get approval and repair the car. We'll also put £150 towards your excess. If your insurer doesn't give you a courtesy car, we may be able to lend you one from our own fleet.
You can choose where your car is repaired, even when your insurer has its own approved garage. Read the policy first, though. Some charge an extra excess, cap what they'll pay or won't provide a courtesy car if you go elsewhere, so tell your insurer you're using Newbridge before any work starts.
Collection and delivery
If getting the car to us is awkward, we can collect it and bring it back when the work is finished. We collect and deliver anywhere within 20 miles of the workshop, which takes in Wickford, Billericay, Rayleigh, Benfleet, Canvey Island and Brentwood. Mention it when you book, along with where the car will be. If the car can't be driven, we can recover it to the workshop instead. Whichever way it arrives, every car is valeted before it comes back to you.
Areas we cover from Basildon
Close to the workshop, we cover Pitsea, Vange, Nevendon, Bowers Gifford, Laindon and Langdon Hills, as well as Basildon itself. Further out, we also cover Benfleet, Canvey Island and Brentwood.
Three nearby towns have their own pages with directions and local details: car body repairs for Wickford, Billericay and Rayleigh. If you're in Kent or South London, our Dartford and Sydenham sites will be nearer.

Questions
01Where is Newbridge's Basildon body shop?
It's on the Burnt Mills Industrial Estate in north-east Basildon, off Courtauld Road, postcode SS13 1EF. The estate sits close to the A132 and the A127 Southend Arterial Road, so it's about 7 minutes from Wickford and 12 from Rayleigh without going into the town centre. Ring 01268 590 722 if you need directions on the way.
02Should I call Newbridge or my insurer first after an accident?
Call us first if the accident wasn't your fault. We'll claim from the other driver's insurer, so you pay no excess, your no claims bonus isn't touched and you get a replacement car similar to yours. If it was your fault, you'll need to tell your insurer, and we'll then deal with them on the estimate and approval.
03Do you do alloy wheel refurbishment in Basildon?
Yes, at the same workshop as our accident repairs. We refurbish painted and diamond cut wheels that have been kerbed, scuffed or corroded, or where the lacquer has begun to flake, and can change the colour. If a wheel is cracked or buckled, we won't just refurbish it: it needs assessing first and may need replacing. Send photos of each damaged wheel through the quote form for a price.
04How long has Newbridge been in Basildon?
Since 2002. Andy Brown started Newbridge in a small workshop in Upminster in 1992 and moved the business to a bigger one in Basildon ten years later. We've been in the current Basildon workshop since 2010. Sydenham followed in 2012 and Dartford in 2020.
05Which areas does the Basildon workshop cover?
Basildon and the towns around it. That takes in Pitsea, Laindon, Vange, Langdon Hills, Nevendon and Bowers Gifford, plus Wickford, Billericay and Rayleigh, which are all within about 15 minutes' drive. Benfleet, Canvey Island and Brentwood are covered too. Drivers in Kent or South London will find our Dartford or Sydenham site closer.
06What happens if my car isn't worth repairing?
You get a fair written valuation instead of a repair. On a non-fault claim, an independent insurance engineer inspects the car and either agrees the repair costs or, if repair isn't economical, values it. A car written off is given a category, such as Cat S or Cat N, which stays on its record and shows on history checks.
07How long does the repair guarantee last?
For as long as you own the car. Every repair from our Basildon workshop comes with a lifetime guarantee on the work. If something isn't right with the repair later on, call us on 01268 590 722 and we'll book the car in to take a look at it.
