Car body repairs for Wickford, three miles down the A132
For car body repairs, Wickford drivers are about 3 miles from Newbridge Accident Repair Centre: a 7-minute drive down the A132 to our Basildon workshop. It's at Newbridge House, Swinbourne Road, Basildon SS13 1EF, and the number is 01268 590 722. We're insurance approved, we handle non-fault claims (replacement car included), and we refurbish kerbed and scuffed alloy wheels.
Seven minutes down the A132
Leave Wickford on the A132, along Golden Jubilee Way and then south down Nevendon Road. Stay on it as it becomes East Mayne, then turn into Courtauld Road for the Burnt Mills Industrial Estate. That's the whole route.
Being this close makes the drop-off simple. A friend can follow you down and have you home again in well under half an hour, so you're not losing a morning to it. Opening hours and more about the site are on our Basildon accident repair centre page.
Insurance approved car body repairs for Wickford drivers
Newbridge has been insurance approved since 2005. On a fault claim, where you're claiming on your own policy, the process is straightforward: you give us the details, we send our estimate to your insurer, they approve it, and we repair the car.
On top of that, we'll contribute £150 to your excess. And if your insurer won't supply a courtesy car, ask us. There may be one free in our own fleet.
Your insurer might point you towards its own garage. You can usually turn that down, but look at the policy wording first, because it can cost you: a higher excess, a limit on what they'll pay, or no courtesy car. Let them know Newbridge is doing the work before anything starts. The full process for fault and non-fault work is on our accident repairs page.
Not your fault? Ring us before your insurer
If another driver hit you, call 01268 590 722 before you speak to your own insurer. We take the claim to the at-fault driver's insurer and recover the costs from them, so you've no excess to pay and your no claims bonus stays where it is.
While your car's with us, you drive a replacement similar to it, at no cost to you. Independent insurance engineers look at the damage and agree the repair cost, or give you a fair written valuation if the car isn't worth repairing. See non-fault accident claims for how the claim runs.
If it happened on the A127 or the A132, our guide to having an accident on the A127 or A13 covers what to do next.
Alloy wheel refurbishment for Wickford
Kerb marks, scuffs, corrosion and lacquer that's started to peel can all be sorted at the Basildon workshop, on painted or diamond cut wheels. If you want a new colour, now's the time to say. A cracked or buckled wheel is another matter. That's about safety, not looks, so we check the wheel over first, and it may have to be replaced. If it does, we'll say so rather than refurbish it and send it back out. More on what we can and can't do is on the alloy wheel refurbishment page.
If a pothole did the damage, you may be able to claim the cost back from the council. There's a question on that below, and our guide to pothole damage claims explains how to go about it.

Questions
01How close is Newbridge to Wickford?
About 3 miles, or 7 minutes in the car. It's the A132 most of the way: Golden Jubilee Way, Nevendon Road, then East Mayne, before you turn into Courtauld Road on the Burnt Mills Industrial Estate in Basildon. That's close enough that dropping the car off and getting a lift home takes very little of your day.
02Is Newbridge an insurance approved repairer?
Yes. Newbridge has been insurance approved since 2005, so estimates, approvals and dealing with claims handlers are routine for us. On a fault claim we deal with your insurer directly. If you're not sure your policy lets you pick your own garage, ring your insurer before any work starts and tell them you'd like Newbridge to do the repair.
03My insurer wants me to use its own garage. Can I still come to you?
Usually, yes. You can choose where your car is repaired, but some policies penalise you for going elsewhere with a higher excess, a lower cap on costs or no courtesy car. Check your policy wording, then tell your insurer before work starts. If the accident wasn't your fault, call us first instead, as the claim goes to the other driver's insurer.
04Can every kerbed alloy wheel be refurbished?
No. Kerb marks, scuffs, corrosion and peeling lacquer can usually be dealt with, but a cracked or buckled wheel is a safety issue rather than a cosmetic one. It has to be assessed and may need replacing. We'll tell you which it is before any work starts, and we won't refurbish a wheel that shouldn't go back on the car.
05Can I claim from the council if a pothole in Wickford damaged my car?
Sometimes. Most roads around Wickford are the responsibility of Essex County Council, through Essex Highways, and you can claim against them. They can defend the claim if they inspected and maintained the road reasonably, under Section 58 of the Highways Act 1980. Photograph the pothole with something for scale, note exactly where it is and keep your repair invoice.
