Accident repair centre in Dartford

Newbridge Accident Repair Centre's Dartford site is at Dewlands Estate, 94-98 London Road, Dartford DA2 6AX, on the A226 in Stone between Dartford town centre and Greenhithe. We repair accident damage, dents, scratches, paintwork and alloy wheels on all makes and models, and the site has held the BSI Kitemark for Vehicle Damage Repair since 2023. Call 01322 930 719, Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm.

We opened here in 2020. It's our only bodyshop in Kent; the other two Newbridge sites are in Basildon and Sydenham. If another driver has just hit you, ring us before you ring your insurer. We'll take the claim to their insurer, and it won't go through your own policy.

Where to find us

The workshop is on the Dewlands Estate on London Road, the A226, in Stone. It's on the Dartford side of Stone, which is why the postal address says Dartford. The A2, the M25 and the Dartford Crossing are all close by, and Bluewater is about 3 miles away.

Coming from Distance Typical drive Route
Dartford town centre Under 2 miles About 5 minutes A226 via East Hill and The Brent, then London Road
Greenhithe About 2 miles About 4 minutes West along the A226
Bluewater About 3 miles About 8 minutes Local roads to the A226
Gravesend About 8 miles About 15 minutes A2 west, off at Bean (B255), then A296 Watling Street
Swanley About 6 miles About 11 minutes M25 from junction 3 to junction 2, then A296 through Dartford
Bexleyheath About 7 miles About 11 minutes A2 east, off at the Dartford junction, then A296

Those times assume a clear road. Allow longer at rush hour, especially anywhere near the Crossing. If you're dropping the car off and haven't arranged a courtesy car, Dartford station is in the town centre, under 2 miles away.

Repairs we do at the Dartford accident repair centre

The Dartford site does the same work as Basildon and Sydenham, on all makes and models:

  • Accident repairs, fault or non-fault, worked through with your insurer or the other driver's
  • Non-fault accident claims, where we deal with the at-fault driver's insurer for you
  • Minor car repairs: dents, scratches, scuffed bumpers, stone chips and smart repairs
  • Express repairs, our fast line for small jobs that shouldn't keep the car off the road for long
  • Alloy wheel refurbishment for kerbed, scuffed or corroded wheels and peeling lacquer, on painted and diamond cut wheels, plus colour changes
  • Car paint repairs, with the colour matched to your car's paint code and blended into the panels next to the repair
  • Lease return repairs and de-fleet work, including taxis and dual-control learner cars

We'll tell you if a car isn't worth repairing, and we won't sell you a repainted panel when a smart repair will do. Every repair comes with a lifetime guarantee for as long as you own the car.

What the BSI Kitemark means

Since November 2023, the Dartford site has held the BSI Kitemark for Vehicle Damage Repair. BSI is the British Standards Institution, and BS 10125 is the British Standard for repairing damaged vehicles. To hold the Kitemark, a bodyshop has to pass an audit by BSI against that standard.

Put simply, someone from outside Newbridge has checked how cars are repaired here, against a written standard, instead of taking our word for it.

You can check the certificate yourself: it's KM 780438, listed in BSI's online Kitemark directory. Our Sydenham site has held the same Kitemark since 2012. If you'd rather hear from drivers than auditors, read the Dartford site's Google reviews.

Had an accident on the A2, the M25 or at the Crossing?

If it's only just happened, stop, and call 999 if anyone is hurt or the road is blocked. Get the other driver's name, address, registration and insurer, and give them yours. If you couldn't swap details at the scene, the police need to hear about it as soon as you can manage, and within 24 hours.

Came over the Crossing? The Dart Charge is still due by midnight the following day, accident or not, so don't let it slip while you're sorting everything else out. Then ring us on 01322 930 719, and if the other driver was to blame, do that before you ring your insurer.

Pothole damage is a different kind of claim. The M25, the A2 and the A282 (the Crossing itself) are National Highways roads, and most other roads around Dartford are Kent County Council's. Photograph the pothole with something in the shot for scale, note exactly where it is, and keep the repair invoice.

There's more on what happens next in our guide to accidents at the Dartford Crossing, on the A2 or the M25.

Non-fault claims and courtesy cars

When another driver caused the accident, our claims handling team can run the whole claim and recover the cost from their insurer. Nothing goes through your own policy, and you get:

  • a replacement car similar to yours while yours is being repaired, at no cost to you
  • no excess to pay
  • your no claims bonus left as it is
  • independent insurance engineers to inspect the car and agree the repair cost, or a fair written valuation if it isn't economical to repair
  • any other compensation you're owed, chased by us on your behalf

There's more detail on our non-fault accident claims page.

Was it your fault? Call us anyway. We'll send your insurer an estimate, get it approved and do the repair, and we'll put £150 towards your excess. If your insurer doesn't give you a courtesy car, we may be able to lend you one from our own fleet.

You're free to choose where your car is repaired. Some policies add an extra excess, cap what they'll pay or hold back the courtesy car if you don't use their approved garage, so check yours and tell your insurer before any work starts. Newbridge has been insurance approved since 2005. We're also members of the VBRA, the Vehicle Builders and Repairers Association.

Collection, delivery and mobile estimates

If getting to Stone is awkward, we can collect the car and drop it back when it's done, anywhere within 20 miles of the site. A car that isn't safe to drive can be recovered to Stone instead, and every repair is valeted before it goes back to you. We also do mobile estimates, so we can look at the damage where the car is parked.

One estimate is all you need. Once it's agreed, we deal with the insurance side for you.

Areas we cover from Dartford

We do car body repairs for Dartford and the villages around it, with Stone, Greenhithe, Swanscombe, Darenth and Wilmington all a short drive away. On the London side, Crayford, Bexley, Erith and Sidcup aren't far, and nor are Ebbsfleet and Northfleet to the east.

Three towns further out have their own pages, with the route from each:

Questions

01Is Newbridge Dartford in Dartford or in Stone?

Both. The workshop is on the Dewlands Estate on London Road (A226) in Stone, on the Dartford side, and the postal address is 94-98 London Road, Dartford DA2 6AX. It's under 2 miles from Dartford town centre and about 2 miles from Greenhithe, with the A2, the M25 and the Dartford Crossing close by.

02Is the Dartford body shop BSI Kitemark certified?

Yes. Our Dartford site has held the BSI Kitemark for Vehicle Damage Repair since November 2023, under certificate number KM 780438. That means BSI, the British Standards Institution, has audited how we repair cars here against BS 10125, the British Standard for vehicle damage repair. You can look the certificate up in BSI's online directory.

03Is this the same Newbridge as the Basildon and Sydenham sites?

Yes. Andy Brown started Newbridge in a small workshop in Upminster in 1992. The business moved to Basildon in 2002, bought an accident repair centre in Sydenham in 2012 and opened in Dartford in 2020. It's one independent business across three sites, and all three offer the same repairs.

04Do I have to use my insurer's approved garage?

No. You can usually choose who repairs your car, but some policies add a higher excess, cap what they'll pay or don't provide a courtesy car if you go elsewhere. Read your policy and tell your insurer before work starts. If the accident wasn't your fault, call us first and we'll deal with the other driver's insurer.

05Will I get a courtesy car while my car is with you?

On a non-fault claim, yes: you get a replacement car similar to yours, at no cost to you, while yours is repaired. On a fault claim, ask your insurer first, as it depends on your policy. If they won't provide one, we may be able to lend you a car from our own fleet.

06Do I still have to pay the Dart Charge if I had an accident on the Crossing?

Yes. The Dart Charge is still due by midnight the day after you crossed, even if you had an accident or broke down. It's easy to forget while you're dealing with the damage, the other driver and the insurance, so pay it as soon as you're somewhere safe.

07How long will my car be in for?

It depends on the damage and how quickly the parts come in. Small jobs such as a scuffed bumper or a minor dent can go through our express line, while a car with several damaged panels takes longer. We'll give you a realistic timescale once we've seen the car or your photos.
