Car body repairs for Bexleyheath and the rest of Bexley

Bexleyheath is in London, but the nearest Newbridge Accident Repair Centre is in Kent: our Dartford site on London Road (A226) in Stone, about 7 miles and 11 minutes along the A2. It handles car body repairs and accident repairs for Bexleyheath, Welling, Bexley and Crayford, from non-fault insurance claims to the dents, scuffs and kerbed alloys that come with parking in town.

Bexleyheath is in London. Why come to Kent for car body repairs?

Because it's closer. Bexleyheath is in the London Borough of Bexley, so it's natural to look for a London bodyshop, and we do have one, in Lower Sydenham. From Bexleyheath, though, getting there means heading west across south-east London. Our Dartford site is the other way, most of the drive is on the A2, and it's often the quicker of the two.

Crayford is closer to us again. From Welling the two sites are nearer a toss-up, so go to whichever suits your day. Both offer the same repairs, and both hold the BSI Kitemark for Vehicle Damage Repair: Sydenham since 2012, Dartford since 2023.

You don't go near the river, either, so the Dartford Crossing and the Dart Charge don't come into it.

The drive from Bexleyheath

Take the A207 and then the A220 Gravel Hill to the A2. Head east: the A2 is Rochester Way at first and becomes the Dartford Bypass. Come off at the Dartford junction, follow the A296 Princes Road and then Watling Street, and you'll come out on London Road. We're on the Dewlands Estate at 94-98 London Road, DA2 6AX.

It's about 7 miles. Allow 11 minutes when the A2 is clear and more when it isn't.

Car park dents and scrapes around the Broadway

Shopping trips leave marks. The car parks around the Broadway are no different from any other busy town centre's: a door swung into yours, a bumper scraped by someone reversing out, a concrete pillar you didn't see, an alloy wheel kerbed while parallel parking. On their own they're small. Together they make a car look older than it is.

Door dings, small dents and bumper scuffs can often be fixed as a smart repair or dent removal, working on the damaged area alone. A scrape that's gone through the paint needs a paint repair. We start from your car's paint code, but metallic and pearl finishes are harder to match, which is why we blend the new paint into the panels either side.

Kerbed alloys are the other one. Alloy wheel refurbishment deals with kerb damage, scuffs, corrosion and peeling lacquer. A wheel that's cracked or buckled is a safety question rather than a cosmetic one: it needs assessing, and it may need replacing.

If someone hit your car while it was parked

Came back to a dent and a note under the wiper? Then you know who did it, and it's a non-fault claim against their insurer. Call us first and we'll run it: their insurer pays for the repair, you have a comparable replacement car in the meantime, and your own policy isn't touched.

No note is harder. Our article on what to do when someone hits your parked car in London has the next steps.

Collection from Bexleyheath and nearby

We can collect your car and bring it back once it's repaired. The Dartford site covers anywhere within 20 miles, so Bexleyheath, Welling, Bexley and Crayford are all in range. We also do mobile estimates, so the damage can be priced without a trip to Stone.

Questions

01I live in Bexleyheath. Do I have to use a London bodyshop?

No. Living in a London borough doesn't tie you to a London bodyshop, and in most cases you can choose where your car is repaired. Some insurance policies charge a higher excess or drop the courtesy car when you go outside their approved network, so check yours. After that, go wherever is easiest to reach.

02Is your Dartford site or your Sydenham site closer to Bexleyheath?

Dartford. Our Dartford site is about 7 miles from Bexleyheath, most of it on the A2, and takes around 11 minutes on a clear road. Our Sydenham site is further away and means driving west across south-east London. From Welling it's closer to even, and both sites offer the same repairs.

03Someone dented my car in a car park and didn't leave a note. What can I do?

Report it to the police first. The Motor Insurers' Bureau deals with claims where the driver can't be traced, and your own fully comp policy may cover it too, so read the small print. For a small dent or scuff it can be simpler to pay for the repair yourself, so get a price from us before deciding.

04Can you fix an alloy wheel I've kerbed while parking?

Usually, yes. Kerb damage, scuffs, corrosion and peeling lacquer are exactly what alloy wheel refurbishment is for. If the wheel is cracked or buckled, it needs assessing for safety first and may need replacing rather than refurbishing. We'll tell you straight if that's the case, before any work is done.

05Do you cover Welling, Bexley and Crayford?

Yes. Crayford is on the Dartford side of Bexleyheath, so it's a shorter drive again. Drivers from Bexley and Welling can use the A2 to reach us, and from Welling our Sydenham site is a reasonable alternative. Erith and Sidcup are within reach of the Dartford site too.
