Gloved hand polishing out a minor scratch on dark paintwork

Minor Car Repairs

Dents, scratches and scuffs

Newbridge Accident Repair Centre fixes minor car damage at our sites in Basildon, Dartford and Sydenham: small dents, scratches, scuffed and split bumpers, stone chips and car park scrapes. Where we can, we use smart repair, which treats the damaged area rather than the whole panel.

Small jobs go through our express line, and most are done in around 48 hours, depending on when the car comes in and whether we find extra damage once we start. Send photos for a price or ask for a mobile estimate. We can collect and deliver within 20 miles of Basildon and Dartford, or 10 miles of Sydenham.

Wheels and paint

We refurbish kerbed, scuffed and corroded alloy wheels, painted or diamond cut, and can change the colour while they're off the car. A cracked or buckled wheel is checked first. Paint is matched to your car's paint code and blended into the panels either side, so the repair doesn't stand out.

Selling or handing back?

A few marks can knock money off a sale, or turn into charges when a lease car goes back. We'll look the car over, tell you which repairs are worth doing and which aren't, and give you a price before anything starts. Every car is valeted before it comes back to you, and our repairs are guaranteed for as long as you own the car.

Questions

01Can a dent be removed without repainting?

Often, yes, as long as the paint isn't cracked or chipped and the metal hasn't stretched. Paintless dent removal pushes or pulls the panel back into shape and leaves the original paint alone. It's less likely to work on sharp creases, dents on a swage line or panel edge, or anywhere we can't reach from behind.

02How can I tell how deep a scratch is?

Run a fingernail across it, then wet it. If your nail slides over and the scratch nearly disappears, it's probably only in the clear lacquer and may polish out. If your nail catches, or you can see grey, white or bare metal, it has gone through the colour and needs paint.

03How long does an express repair take?

Most are done in around 48 hours. It depends on when the car comes in and whether we find extra damage once we start, such as a cracked mounting behind a scuffed bumper. We'll give you a realistic time for your car when you book.

04Can you refurbish diamond cut alloys or change the colour?

Yes, both. We refurbish painted and diamond cut wheels, and a refurbishment is a good time to change the colour. A cracked or buckled wheel is checked before any cosmetic work, and if it isn't safe to refurbish we'll tell you it needs replacing.

05Do you need to see the car before giving a price?

Not always. Clear photos from a couple of angles are enough for a guide price on most minor damage. If they don't tell the whole story, we can come out with our mobile estimate service, or you can call in at the nearest site. The work and price are agreed with you before anything starts.
